Lumbar Radiculopathy (Sciatica)

An irritated nerve in the lower back that sends pain, numbness or tingling down the leg.

What is it?

This is when a nerve in your lower back is irritated or disrupted. This causes pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness that goes from your lower back down into your leg or foot.

Let’s talk about it

Think of the nerves in your lower back as electrical wires. If one of those wires gets pinched, it can send a shocking or tingling feeling down the leg. This condition is often called sciatica.

Treatment options

Treatment often includes special exercises that help move the nerve, massaging the soft tissues, and using traction to take pressure off the nerve. It is also important to have good posture.
