Cervical Spondylosis (Neck Arthritis)

Wear and tear of the spinal disks in the neck, which can make the neck stiff and painful.

What is it?

This is a condition where the spinal disks in your neck get worn down over time. As a disk shrinks, it can cause the bones to rub together and grow small bony parts, which can squeeze the spinal cord. This is more common as people get older.

Let’s talk about it

Think of the disks in your neck like soft cushions between the bones. As you get older, these cushions can get worn out and shrink, causing the bones to rub together. This can make your neck stiff and painful.

Treatment options

You can put ice and heat on your neck for about 15 minutes at a time. You should also do neck stretches every day, like moving your ear to your shoulder or looking up and down. A physical therapist can also help you with specific exercises and stretches.
