Information
Knee Arthritis
Worn or damaged cartilage in the knee joint, causing swelling, pain and a crackling sound.
What is it?
This is when the smooth covering (cartilage) on the bones in your knee joint gets damaged or worn away. This causes swelling and pain in the knee joint. This is more common in people 50 years and older.
Let’s talk about it
Just like with your hip, arthritis can wear away the smooth covering in your knee joint. This can cause swelling, pain, and a crackling sound when you move your knee.
Treatment options
Treatments include losing weight, doing regular exercises, and stretching. Using a knee brace or a cane can also help. You can also use heat and cold therapy.
