Tendonitis (Tendon Irritation)
Irritated, swollen tendons that cause pain around the ankle and foot, often in the Achilles or posterior tibialis tendon.
What is it?
This is an irritation or disruption of a tendon, which is the tissue that connects muscle to bone. It can sometimes cause swelling and pain around the ankle and foot. It often happens in the Achilles tendon or the posterior tibialis tendon.
Let’s talk about it
Tendons are strong, rope-like tissues that connect muscles to bones. If a tendon gets used too much, it can become irritated and swollen, causing pain around your ankle and foot.
Treatment options
Treatments include exercises, hands-on therapy, and taping. You might also be taught how to move better and be given special shoe inserts. Changing your activities and losing weight can also help.
